Double Take: Antique Windsor Chair Makeover Before & After

Posted on by Kahli Posted in Before & After Projects, DIY, Painting Projects | 27 Comments

Happy Wednesday everyone! Only 2 more days until the weekend! I know I can’t wait. I find that Milla and I more productive on the weekends especially when we don’t have other people’s kids over. This weekend we have plans to put the finishing touches on the girl’s room and start the boy’s room since it is in the same apartment. We found this chair at the local Goodwill for $6 I think.

This chair looks amazing in the picture as is. But there were some deep dents in the seat area that needed to be repaired and the natural wood tone didn’t go with the other intended items for the girl’s bedroom. So we painted it white and here is the after! Read more

Double Take: Before & After Nightstand

Posted on by Kahli Posted in Before & After Projects, DIY, Painting Projects | 13 Comments

A few months ago, I purchased this nightstand to put in the girl’s room that we’re designing. I really liked the shape, the chunky legs, and detailed drawer. But the nightstand needed a makeover to fit with the rest of the room.

With both of us working full time jobs, it’s sometimes impossible to fit projects into our busy schedule. I’m not even sure how we’ve managed to complete anything! Anyway here’s the new nightstand. Read more

Double Take: Lace Lamp Makeover Before & Many Afters

Posted on by Kahli Posted in Before & After Projects, DIY, fabric, Painting Projects, Tutorials | 28 Comments

Happy Monday everyone! It feels like it has been days since we’ve updated and it doesn’t help that the weekend just flew by! The weather hasn’t been best in Baltimore for most of the week, but yesterday the rain held up and allowed us to fit a few projects into our busy weekend! Why were we so busy? We attended two birthday parties for our younger cousin and “godtwins” (easier than saying twin godchildren-even though I just said it!). And we’re still feeling the effects from those parties! Now I know why I don’t bowl regularly, it is indeed a workout and I think I may have pulled a glute!

Anyway, the project of choice was a lamp. What? No, chair? No dresser? Yes, a lamp sorry to disappoint you all! However, it is a pretty lamp. It started out as a black lamp base as you can see. This makeover involved a few makeovers before we liked the final result.

Double Take: Pink Floral French Side Chair Before & After

A year ago I bought this chair from an estate sale for $20. It was one of many chairs in my chair addiction collection. If it was cute, I’d buy it! Plain and simple. And this chair was cute! I loved the curvy legs and back. I did not love the existing look however.

Fast forward to the present and this chair has finally received the much deserved makeover.

Double Take: Turquoise Chalkboard Mirror Before & After

When Wednesday better known as hump day comes around, I start to get antsy if we haven’t completed some type of DIY project for the week. So in order to cure my anxiety I’d usually choose one of the numerous thrift items laying around and give it a makeover. Some may call it an addiction to decorating…yes it is an addiction. The item of the week is this ornate mirror purchased off of Craigslist.
Gold ornate mirror
I love the 3 sections and I figured it would make a nice chalkboard. Try not to look at the utter chaos reflected in the mirror….

Double Take: Before and After Turquoise Cane Armchair

If any of you have been treated to buckets of non-stop rain the past few days, I bet you are ready for another chair makeover. We’re so excited to show you guys what took us only three days to complete. Yes, we’re crazy obsessed with our DIY projects.

Much like our previous armchair makeover, this chair and fabric we purchased at quite a steal. And much like the previous armchair makeover, this chair was just as ugly in its previous state. See it below:

 Cane Chair: The Before

Ahh! My eyes! I’m kidding, it wasn’t that bad. But the bright sun definitely makes it look much better. The frame was covered in some kind of black gunk that I had to clean off with my best disinfectant wipes, sand the entire frame, and then wipe off the remaining dust with paper towels.
