The Floral Disaster: A chair in distress

I bought a small scale chair at a nearby thrift store a few months ago with the intention to reupholster it, but other projects have taken precedence instead. It has a floral red and green  flocked velvet pattern on the front and solid green velvet on the backside. In other words it’s ugly! I can’t help but look at this chair and think about Christmas decorations. I’ll just show you instead of going on and on…

I had to look past the floral nightmare and recognize the potential in this chair. After I bought it I did question my sanity and my addiction to armchairs, but the chair does have great lines and I liked the slight curve to the back. I’m pretty sure that whatever fabric I reupholster this chair in, it’ll be an instant upgrade!

I’m leaning towards a fabric in a charcoal gray color.

The velvet chair is a beauty with those casters wheels isn’t it. Too bad velvets and cats don’t go together, but the color is lovely. Maybe I can do contrasting white piping to make the chair pop next to my teal dresser.

Maybe I can get the courage to tuft without existing holes…I doubt it though! Or maybe I should go vibrant and do yellow??

What do you all think would look better next to my teal dresser? If you can’t tell I suffer from indecisiveness and pinterest doesn’t help.

Oh Kahli – I definitely see potential in that sweet little chair! It would be gorgeous in a charcoal grey—lots of texture and tufting! Please share when your done. I can’t wait!! That’s for stopping by project queen today!

Hello Mandy! Thanks for your vote on charcoal gray! With your vote of confidence I may work up the nerve to tuft or at least put some buttons on it without tufting! Wish me luck :) I’m scared though haha

The colors in my bedroom are charcoal, orange, mustard and teal so I KNOW the charcoal OR yellow would look amazing!!!

So did you ever finish this chair, Kahli? I’d love to see what you did with it. Yellow with the look bold and stylish with the teal! Can’t wait to see the finished product.

Yes I did finish it! http://designpardeux.com/black-white-stripe-chair-makeover/. I just took the fabric off and I’m doing something else with it lol! I blame my cat for using it as an easier way to get into my window :(
