Hello all, thanks for stopping by as always. So I’m doing this post because Kah “kindly” pointed out that my name has been missing from the last few posts. The change in seasons and temperature affected me more than I thought I would. One day it was 80 degrees the next day it was 50 degrees and raining so I kept getting sick. My body and immune system was confused!
Anyway as some of you may know we’ve been working on a girl’s room, but we’ve also been working on a little boy’s room at the same time. We purchased this dresser and nightstand set for $30. You can see it here below:

It was brown, ugly, and laminate, but otherwise it was in pretty good shape. The style of this dresser is shall I say…plain. It has no ornate details or fancy handles. However, it was perfect for a boy. So first we painted it Gloss Navy Blue by Rustoleum and we hated it. It was dark and it did not photograph well.

See. What do you guys think? It needed something bold right? Yeah, we thought so too. So number stencils to the rescue. We stenciled his date of birth in the left corners of the drawer fronts. The stencils were purchased from A.C. Moore with a coupon of course.

Talk about instant upgrade! We love the look of bold graphics. And the little boy is only four, but he’ll never forget his birthday that’s for sure. We extended the bold look inside the drawers by adding red striped wrapping paper from Ikea.

I love the look the red wrapping paper adds. He’ll get a nice surprise every time he opens up this dresser. The wrapping paper is $4.99 and it’s a giant roll. Oh we plan to add these vintage brass handles once they are shipped. What do you all think?

Thanks a lot Deanna.
You two are amazing & I’m so thrilled that I found you! I have so much stuff like this & can hardly wait to tackle all of them. Thank you for the amazing inspiration…
I’ve been writing a humor blog for 4 years but now that I’ve become obsessed with spray painting everything I own, it’s apparently no longer a humor blog, so I went with one of my *someday* blogs to reveal all my projects, good or bad.

This is fabulous! My son has a similar boring dresser that I’ve been wanting to do in navy, but I knew it needed a little something extra. This is it! Very well done!

Wow! I love what you did with the dresser. Its amazing how a simple idea and some paint can change what was once a “fuddy duddy” piece of furniture into a piece of art. Way to go

Love the dresser, I might have passed by it when shopping because it was plain. But you turned it in to something that looks fresh and new like it came from Pottery Barn. Great job, Laura
