With Christmas just around the corner, it is not surprising that I haven’t done any Christmas shopping yet. I didn’t expect the month of December to fly by so quickly :(. I have a few people on my list. Breeze is most likely expecting a can of tuna. I’m not sure what I want to get Milla though. I’ll probably allow her to pick something out and I’ll pay for it…like she did for me!
If you remember my moodboard from last Friday, I was on the search for some teal pillows after not being able to find fuchsia pillows. Here’s what my bed looked like without the teal pillows.
And here’s what it looks like now with the purchase of teal pillows. Thanks Milla! She’s a great gal. I (Milla) purchased the velvet pillows from Pier 1 on sale. Their pillows are currently 20% off, so instead of paying $29.99, she paid about $24 for each and it comes with a down feather insert. Read more
The title of this post may be confusing to some of you at the moment, but let me explain. In a nutshell, my bedroom is really small (9×10 or something), it’s not as small as a closet unless we’re talking about a walk-in closet. A bedroom of this size doesn’t leave too much room for items other than a bed, dresser and maybe a nightstand or two, but I’ve managed to fit a lovely chair in the corner.
As mentioned in the last post, I’ve been working on a moodboard to hopefully help me stay on task. This is what I have so far.
Of course, in true indecisive fashion, I’m not sure about any of these items other than what I already own. Wait I lied, I own most if not all of these items in a similar style other than the chevron vase, watercolor fashion print, fuchsia pillows and the floral pillow. The artwork is my main concern because I want a large size and that print is $76.00 for a 16×20, which would make it the most expensive purchase in my room. Time to get out some tutorials and work on my drawing and painting skills or lack thereof. Does anyone know where to purchase fuchsia pink velvet pillows? Do they not exist for a reasonable price? The ones pictured are $115 a piece and…yeah, no!
And just because I love to ask for the assistance of our lovely readers, I’ve included a sneak peek of what my room looks like as of now. Read more
Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend! I’ve spent most of my weekend, sewing some pillows to dress up my bed, working on a moodboard for my bedroom, and finding artwork for my bedroom. I’ve been loving the look of watercolor illustrations lately, especially fashion illustrations. I believe a stylish, fashion illustration will look great with the classic look the black and white stripes create in my bedroom. There’s no better place to find original art than on Etsy. I fell in love with so many, but I especially love the illustrations by Jessica Durrant of Jessica Illustrations. The colors are so vibrant I can’t even chose a favorite! However, I really like the line work in the first one.
Hi all, good morning! Unfortunately, we don’t have any makeovers for you guys yet, but I spent most of last night browsing Etsy for throw pillows for Kah. I was searching for bright floral pillows and decided to show you guys what I found.
This pillow above…Kah is thinking about putting it on her bed to add a punch of color to her black and white color scheme. It is available for sale $29.95 or cheaper for $13.95
These lovelies are like artwork on a pillow. They are for sale by Henrietta and Morty. They have some great graphic and Japanese inspired pillows. The first one is $30.94 and the latter is also $30.94
Hello, lovely readers! Hope you all are having a great day! I have a makeover treat for you today. I’ve finally finished upholstering the black and white striped chair for my bedroom. My determination to finish this chair was even too much for my injured thumb, which I had accidentally shut in the door. OUCH! It feels a lot better today than it did on Sunday, but I did hit it a few more times with the mallet in the upholstery process. I may or may not have screamed out in pure agony. I’m actually sadder that I had to remove my nail polish to examine the injury.
By now you’re probably wondering why I’ve spent so much time talking about my stupid thumb and less time talking about the makeover. Here’s a quick look at the fugly before. Green, red and cream floral flocked fabric=fugly.
Now here’s the lovely after! Ta-da! I purchase 4 yards of Black & White Canopy Stripe fabric by Premier Prints for $38 with shipping from Warehouse Fabrics but only used about 2 3/4 yards. I plan to make some pillows with the leftover. I ordered the fabric on a Thursday night, it shipped Friday and I received it Tuesday morning. I’m very happy with my first experience with Warehouse Fabrics and can’t recommend them enough. Read more
It seems that I may have my priorities mixed up tonight because instead of working on finishing up my chair I decided that painting my nails was more important. I purchased two nail art pens in black and white by Sally Hansen from Target today for $7 each. And used O.P.I in black/onyx for the solid black on three nails. Always use a clear base coat on all nails so that the colors won’t stain and follow up with a top coat after you’re done with your designs for protection.
I’ve never painted any designs on my nails so I don’t really have a concrete tutorial. I just played around with the pen until I ended up with a design I liked. Of course I wanted to incorporate stripes.
Breeze was rather impressed by my nail art or maybe he was just upset that I turned on the light and interrupted his sleep, either way I had his attention.
Just a note, the color comes out of the pen in thin and runny coats at times so be careful when applying it to the nail. The white seemed to crackle a little bit for me too but it didn’t bother me that much, I like the crackle effect.
I’ve seen a lot of lovely nail designs that could serve as inspiration for interiors. Like this combination of stripes and floral could be pulled of wonderfully.
A few weeks ago we received an email from Cutting Edge Stencils to host a giveaway for our lovely readers. Of course we were ecstatic and I was all set to do the giveaway and choose a stencil for us to try out and then bam two weeks of sickness hit us like a ton of bricks! I haven’t even decided on a stencil yet because there are so many I like and having a twin that thinks exactly like you most of the time doesn’t really help narrow the choices. Maybe we should allow Breeze to choose.
Stencils are great because they are versatile, especially if you don’t want to fully commit to wallpaper. If you’re still not convinced…here are some great examples of stencil work in blogland.
Hello, lovely people! Hope everyone is having a great day today. I’m still battling with a cold, it’s been going on for almost two weeks now and just when I start to feel better…I wake up with the symptoms again. Somehow, I’ve found the strength to complete most of the chair. I only have to upholster the back! Yay! I actually stayed up til 5am to work on it because I couldn’t sleep. Surprisingly, I made it into work today. Here’s how it’s looking so far. Isn’t it pretty?
I think the bold black and white stripes look great against the soft gray wall and next to the teal dresser. And yes I just realized the hardware on the dresser is crooked. I’ll be sure to fix that when my bedroom is complete. I believe the stripes are straight enough considering how late it was when I working on it. Breeze came out a few times to check on me and also eat some cotton batting. Does anyone know if that will hurt him? He loves to eat unnatural things like carpet, cotton, toilet tissue, rubber bands. The vet said he was healthy though.
Now that I’ve decided to incorporate black into my bedroom, I began browsing the internet for inspiration for bedroom with black and teal.
Hello lovely people! How was your Thanksgiving week? Hope you all ate lots of food. If you had to cook, hopefully there were no mishaps.
As for as our Thanksgiving week it went well. We spent time with family members and scored great Black Friday deals on clothes. Of course, the buy one, get one free deals are our favorite. Yet, we didn’t have a chance to complete any DIY projects or visit any thrift stores because we were sick again. Shame on us, we feel like such slackers. Let the self-loathing begin.
On a serious note, we are diligently try to complete this gallery wall. A 12 foot gallery wall to be more accurate. Can you imagine the headache of trying to find artwork and frames to cover a wall that long? We might’ve purchased over 30 frames at this point and it’s still not enough. I’ll show you guys a sneak peek of what frames we’ve hung so far:
We have to purchase some smaller frames for that empty space, yet it seems to be coming together. I’m dreading buying artwork for all those frames and this picture shows only half of the wall…*pulls hair out now*
