Double Take: Turquoise Chalkboard Mirror Before & After

When Wednesday better known as hump day comes around, I start to get antsy if we haven’t completed some type of DIY project for the week. So in order to cure my anxiety I’d usually choose one of the numerous thrift items laying around and give it a makeover. Some may call it an addiction to decorating…yes it is an addiction. The item of the week is this ornate mirror purchased off of Craigslist.

I love the 3 sections and I figured it would make a nice chalkboard. Try not to look at the utter chaos reflected in the mirror….

There weren’t too many steps involved in giving this mirror a makeover. Of course that muted gold didn’t work for me. I wanted something bright! And what better way is there to go bright than with my staple color of choice…turquoise.

As you can see, I couldn’t even wait for the Chalkboard Spray Paint to dry before taking pictures! It’s just so pretty. I used Synergy by Sherwin Williams again and used Krylon Chalkboard Spray Paint. I did try the Krylon Magnetic Primer underneath and…it did not work for me! Maybe I didn’t use enough but it couldn’t even hold up the smallest magnet.

I went to Michael’s with the intention of purchasing a Chalk Marker, but the shipment just came in. So hopefully when I go back tomorrow they’ll have some. It doesn’t matter anyway since the Chalkboard Paint has to dry for 24 hours. 24 hours feels like a lifetime for me.

Seriously, you couldn’t have picked a better a color for this project! The mirror was an awesome find. You don’t see too many like that. I hear you on getting antsy with crafts. I feel like if I don’t complete at least one a weekend then I go crazy!

Exactly! Haha. I try to at least complete two a week and that includes upholstery projects. I don’t know we even have the time to reupholster with both of us having full time jobs and what not. I usually try to complete as much as I can daily before my shift starts because I don’t want to let my readers down lol. Thanks for visiting!
