We are ecstatic to have Houzz guest posting on our site today. If you’re not familiar with Houzz you definitely need to head over there and check out all the amazing inspiration.
Hello everyone! My name is Becky and I’m a contributor at Houzz, a home design site focused on helping design professionals and homeowners manage the remodeling and decorating process. Thanks so much to Kahli and Milla for having me!
Today I thought I’d share a few unexpected ways to show off your favorite photographs. While gallery walls, collages, and a hodge-podge of photographs on the refrigerator are all just great, you may be looking for some fresh ways to turn your favorite shots into something more artful. Here are three creative ways to turn your photographs into art.
Create a triptych. While gallery walls are wonderful, the simplicity of three black and white photographs in a row is a great way to show off your kids in the living room or family room. Send your photos to a site like canvaspress.com and they’ll have them printed on canvas for you.
Go beyond big. This giant photograph is of the homeowner’s parents back when they were a new couple. Head down to your local camera shop, film processing spot or Kinkos and they’ll be able to help you accomplish this with your own photos. Older photos in black and white or sepia tones pack a great design punch.
Have your family done up Warhol style. You can shoot a photo over to sites like Photowow.com or AllPopArt.com and have them transformed into a brightly colored pop portrait. There are even sites that specialize in Warholing the family pets, like popartpet.com.
